Neutrinos elastically scattering on atomic electrons is a standard candle process. MINERvA has good statistics and uses this as an important flux constraint. Because it’s such a small cross section, we make a high statistics special sample. The higher statistics support robust unfolding, migration matrix, and efficiency corrections.
This Monte Carlo sample is roughly 300 times the predicted data statistics.
